Youth Connect

A targeted support program within the Victorian Early Leaver Connection Initiative (VELCI)

Engaging and inspiring young people to set them up for success in education, work and life.

This program exists to support young people in transitioning from school to other education or career pathways before completing Year 12 at school.

We provide connection, extra support services and pathway options for early school leavers during their transition into adult life including:

  • Individual Mentoring & Coaching
  • Building Confidence
  • Opportunities for Peer Support & Connection
  • Community Engagement
  • Work Readiness

This individualised, culturally safe, accessible and inclusive support is for Koorie young people and young people with a disability.

There are two priority groups of young people who may be supported by VELCI:

  • Priority 1: Compulsory school age early school leavers.
Young people aged 16 and under who have left school early, with a formal exemption from school to participate in full-time education, training and/or employment

  • Early school leavers aged 17 – 20 at TAFE non-school providers.
Early school leavers aged 17 - 20 who are enrolled in the Victorian Certificate of Education or Victorian Pathways Certificate at a TAFE non-school provider
