Community Satisfaction Survey

Each year, Local Government Victoria coordinates the statewide Community Satisfaction Survey to understand how residents rate the performance of their local council.

The survey is conducted annually by an independent market research company through phone interviews.

What is the survey for?

This survey provides valuable insights into how residents view key council services, helping councils benchmark performance and identify improvement opportunities.

The results also inform the Local Government Performance Reporting Framework (LGPRF).

Who conducts the survey?

The survey is conducted by independent research company Klein Research, with their fieldwork partner TKW Research, and gathers feedback from a representative sample of 600 residents.

If you receive a call, please note:

  • Researchers will never ask for people by name (they don’t have names).
  • They will always identify as TKW Research and introduce themselves by name.
  • They will always say how long they expect the survey to take.
  • Calls will come from a mobile number.
  • In some cases, the researchers may ask to speak to someone in the household of a specific age range and/or gender to ensure that we get a cross-section of residents to match our demographic profile.
  • Participation is voluntary, and all responses are anonymous and confidential.
  • Researchers may ask for general demographic information, but will not ask for your personal details. If you feel suspicious that someone might be impersonating a Council-endorsed surveyor, please hang up and call Council on (03) 5018 8100 immediately to verify.
