Work Experience

Local Government is one of the most diverse employers in the region, providing services that support our community every day. At Mildura Rural City Council, our work spans four key areas: Corporate Performance, Infrastructure & Assets, Healthy Communities, and Strategy & Growth.

Together, these areas deliver everything from roads, parks and community services to arts and culture, planning, tourism, information technology, finance and communications.

We offer work experience, structured workplace learning and tertiary placement opportunities to allow students to gain insight into a potential career or area of work. Students can request to gain experience in a variety of different areas including:

  • Communications
  • Corporate Services
  • Community Care
  • Economic Development & Tourism
  • Environmental Health
  • Parks & Gardens
  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Information Technology
  • Library Services
  • Mildura Arts Centre
  • Statutory & Strategic Planning

Who can apply?

Council can only accommodate requests for Work Experience or Tertiary Placements from those who are currently studying.

Important Information regarding work experience at Mildura Rural City Council

While we are keen to assist with work experience placements whenever possible, due to the high number of requests we receive it is not always possible to offer placements to students. Each request will be dealt with individually and confirmation will depend on availability of suitable work, an employee to supervise the student.
