Mildura Rural City Council is planning an exciting new Mildura Riverfront Adventure Playspace at Jaycee Park, designed to deliver a vibrant, inclusive and regionally significant destination for families, locals and visitors.

The playspace will celebrate Mildura’s unique riverfront identity while providing a dynamic environment that encourages active play, imagination and exploration for children of all ages and abilities.

Key Features

The draft concept design includes a range of distinctive and engaging play elements, including:

A large paddlesteamer themed play structure featuring a six-metre slide, inspired by the Murray River’s rich history
“Pondi” the Giant Murray Cod, a landmark play feature that reflects the region’s natural environment and cultural significance
A flying fox providing high energy, adventurous play opportunities
Nature based and imaginative play spaces designed to encourage creativity and exploration
Play opportunities catering to a wide range of ages, abilities and developmental stages
Accessible and inclusive design elements aligned with contemporary play standards to support participation for all children
Shaded areas, seating and informal gathering spaces for families and carers
Barbecue facilities supporting longer stays and community use
Improved pathways and connections to the broader riverfront precinct
Open space areas designed to support recreation, events and flexible community use

Community Input

The draft concept has been shaped by strong community engagement, including surveys, pop up sessions, stakeholder consultation and a dedicated children’s design program. This input has helped ensure the playspace reflects local ideas, values and aspirations.
