Round 1 (held September 2020)

Council conducted an initial round of public consultation in September 2020 to gather community thoughts on the future of the Irymple township, including future opportunities and residents aspirations.

Background

Council engaged Mesh Planning to assist with preparation of an updated Irymple Structure Plan (adopted 2012) and new Urban Design Framework (UDF).   The plan provides for a vision and long-term economic, social and environmental objectives for Irymple, over the next 15 years.  The new structure plan will also be used to update relevant aspects of the Mildura Planning Scheme.

The project also aims to provide action plans for Irymple, which will guide how the town develops, including future land use, built form and public spaces. It will focus on the area bound by Sandilong and Morpung Avenues and Fourteenth and Sixteenth Streets.

The study will include creation of a new town centre plan, providing clear actions for public realm improvements, which encompass the majority of everyday public spaces residents use to socialise, play, work, travel or exercise.

The new Irymple Structure Plan will better accommodate the changes and growth in the town since the previous plan was created in 2012.

These changes include new commercial and residential areas, changes to state and local planning policies and updated strategies which identify changes to growth patterns in the municipality.

You can find more detail about the project itself in the project brochure and other documents at the bottom of this page.
