Mildura Arts Centre is about to introduce a series of regular Sunday afternoon live jazz sessions, providing a smooth, relaxing way for Sunraysia residents to round out their weekends.

Sunday Jazz starts from this Sunday 24 March and will feature free-of-charge events based in the MAC foyer starting at 3pm.

Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said he was looking forward to the return of regular live jazz events in the region following the popularity of the genre in past years.

“These Sunday afternoon jazz sessions are a great idea and fill a gap in the suite of entertainment currently available in our region,” Cr Modica said.

“Imagine sitting back with a few friends in the relaxed atmosphere of the Mildura Arts Centre foyer on a Sunday afternoon, taking in some smooth jazz while looking out on the beautiful surroundings of the MAC laws – it’s the perfect way to round out the weekend.

“And with a 3pm start, it’s also perfectly timed if you’re heading out for dinner afterwards.”

Sunday Jazz will launch this month with local act the Don Mayne Trio, featuring Don Mayne, Luke Peak and Lewis White.

Each event will be free. The MAC café/bar will also be operating, serving great food and wine, with platters also available.

Further Sunday Jazz dates will be announced in coming weeks.
