Registrations are now open for Council’s January School Holiday program, which once again boasts a host of new and fun activities, as well as the return of numerous firm favourites.

The program is open to young people aged 12 to 16 and will feature activities each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for three weeks commencing 7 January.

Registrations from this year will be made online via Qikkids. In order to use this easy-to-navigate system parents must first register by visiting www.mildura.vic.gov.au/Services/Youth/School-Holiday-Activities

Registrations will be taken until 5pm on Friday 3 January.

New activities this January include a Games2U day, which is a day full of games including PS4, laser tag, giant hamster ball and water tag.

There will also be activities for young people to learn about skincare and make-up, as well as a ‘high tea’ at The Wooden Door, which will help explore and develop social skills and etiquette.

DRUMBEAT meanwhile will feature trained facilitators who will teach participants African drumming while helping them discover relationships using music, beliefs, emotions, attitudes and thoughts.

To beat the summer heat, there will be an outdoor pool day at the Mildura Pool, as well as an indoor day at Mildura Waves.

Regular favourites set to make a return include Laserforce, Movies and Pizza Day, Inflatable World, Aquacoaster and Putt Putt.

Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Gavin Sedgmen said the Mildura Youth Services Team had put together a program designed to suit all interests.

“Each year, our Youth Services Team work hard to ensure the school holiday programs offered to our community meet the needs and interests of as many young people as possible,” Cr Sedgmen said.

“This is no easy task given the breadth of cultures, backgrounds and interests in our region, however they’ve managed to do it once again.

“There’s everything from activities for those who like to be more physically active, through to activities to expand the mind.

“The overall aim of course is to provide activities that are fun and engaging, but also provide benefits to young people, whether it be picking up new skills, or opportunities for social interaction.”

All school holiday programs are either free or low-cost, with lunch and morning tea provided.
