From Join the Navy for a Day to a Hip Hop dance workshop, Council’s July School Holiday program boasts an amazing variety of activities for our young people.

Registrations are now open for the upcoming school holiday program, which runs from Monday 1 July through to Friday 12 July. Registrations close at 5pm on Friday 28 June.

Aimed at young people aged 12 to 16 and coordinated by Council’s Youth Services Team, next month’s program includes the aforementioned activities as well as an art day allowing young people to create their own mosaic to take home.

Regular favourites including Laserforce, Inflatable World, Movies and Pizza Day and a self-defence class will also be among a raft of activities for young people to choose from.

Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Min Poole encouraged students or their parents/guardians to register early to avoid missing out.

“Our Youth Services team does a fantastic job each year selecting school holiday activities that will not only appeal to a broad range of interests, but importantly, provide opportunities for young people to learn new skills, meet new friends and enjoy new experiences,” Cr Poole said.

“A perfect example is one of our new activities - Join the Navy for a Day, which is one of Australia’s leading youth development programs provided by the Australian Defence Force Cadets.

“This is an activity that aims to help young people reach their personal goals, gain self-confidence and make life-long friends, and we’re able to provide this activity as part of our July School Holiday program.”

All activities are facilitated from the Mildura Scout Hall at 39 Twelfth Street Mildura and are either free or low cost. Morning tea, lunch and snacks are provided at all activities.

The July School Holiday program is funded by Council and the Victorian Government’s Engage program, which aims to provide opportunities for young people to participate in activities which build their skills , knowledge and pathways, as well as develop networks with families, peers and community.

July School Holiday activity flyers and enrolment forms are available by contacting Council’s Customer Service Team on (03) 5018 8100, or by emailing our Youth Services team at youthservices@mildura.vic.gov.au.
