Nichols Point planning option on the table
Published on 19 February 2016
After several months of consultation, Mildura Rural City Council will be presenting Nichols Point residents with a preferred option for future residential development.
The Nichols Point Residential Development Plan aims to set clear guidelines about how residential development will occur over the coming years, focusing on the land between Karadoc Avenue, Irymple Avenue and either side of Fifth Street to the south of Tireel Drive and midway towards Cureton Avenue to the north east.
Mayor Glenn Milne said the Nichols Point community had already invested a lot time into the plan and the Preferred Option Paper, which is now out for public comment, reflects both the requirements under the legislation and the vision of the community.
“The Nichols Point community have had a lot of input into what areas they want to see utilised for housing, for parks and wetlands and for other infrastructure,” Cr Milne explained. “Now they will have the opportunity to look at the options we are proposing and see if it fits with how they see their community growing into the future.
“Once the plan is finalised, Council will have a clear direction for addressing the need for additional services and development based on what the community have indicated they would like to see.”
The Preferred Option Consultation Paper is available from Council’s Have Your Say page on our website and in hard copy Council service centres.
Drop-in sessions will also be held on Wednesday 24 February from 3pm at the Nichols Point Primary School and on Tuesday 1 March at the Alfred Deakin Centre in Mildura from 5pm, with the document available for public comment until Friday 11 March 2016.
