Mildura’s popular annual New Year’s Eve community event will make a welcome return this year, featuring live music and fireworks displays among a whole host of entertainment for all ages.

Based at Nowingi Place, the free community event kicks off at 6.30pm on Friday 31 December, featuring a packed program created by event organiser Mildura Entertainment.

There will be a live performance by children’s favourite The Dinomaniacs followed by a diverse range of music acts including Brandon Kitt, DJ Tristo, Zkye ‘n’ Dammo, Jatzcrackers and Zkye & The Guys, ensuring there’s sure to be a style of music to suit every taste.

Other features include food trucks, jumping castles and light up glow novelties as well as two spectacular fireworks displays – the first at 9.30pm followed by the night’s finale at midnight.

Mildura Mayor Liam Wood said the popular community event would be a chance to celebrate much more than ushering in the New Year.

“It’s fantastic to see our community once again able to enjoy getting out and enjoying major events, and the annual New Year’s Eve community celebration is one of the biggest on our region’s annual events calendar, attracting thousands,” Cr Wood said.

“As one of the first major events of this scale that our community has been able to enjoy in months, it’s in many ways a chance for us to come together and celebrate a return to the lifestyle we’ve missed so much over the past 18 months.

“I’m looking forward to joining our community in this celebration, and it’s the perfect event at which to do this, featuring a great family atmosphere, with plenty of entertainment on offer.”

Mildura Entertainment owner, and New Year’s Eve community event organiser David Storer said Sunraysia residents could look forward to a great night out to bring in the New Year.

“The program we’ve put together has been designed to ensure everyone from the youngest of party-goers through to adults can enjoy a fun night out with great entertainment and the perfect location on the banks of the Murray River,” Mr Storer said.

Mildura’s New Year’s Eve community event is smoke, alcohol and glass-free. Attendees will need to QR check-in and proof of double COVID-19 vaccination will be required.
