Mildura Arts Centre (MAC) has reopened following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions announced by the Victorian Government.

MAC is open from 10am to 4pm daily, allowing the community to once again enjoy one of the region's most popular arts venues.

Arts and Culture Development Manager Antonette Zema said the MAC galleries and Rio Vista Historic House are all open, as is the cafe bar, which operates from 10am to 2pm daily.

The only component of the MAC precinct unable to open under current public health measures is the MAC theatre due to the limited numbers allowed, however Council is looking forward to reopening the theatre as soon as restrictions allow.

"We're excited to once again be able to open our doors to the community after the very welcome easing of COVID-19 restrictions announced on the weekend," Ms Zema said.

"It means residents and visitors can wander through our galleries, relax in the cafe bar and explore Rio Vista Historic House."

Ms Zema said MAC has launched a new exhibition to coincide with the reopening.

Special Forever: voices of the children features the work of Sunraysia primary school students who have produced a collection of writing and artwork representing their passion and understanding for the environment, and their views on local and global issues.

The exhibition was coordinated by Rosemarie Zalec and will run through until Sunday 24 January.

Ms Zema said while it was exciting to reopen the MAC doors, several important measures were in place to ensure the safety of the community when visiting the venue.

These measures include a 'contact station' people will notice when they walk into the MAC foyer, where a Customer Service team member will provide information and help, including entry conditions and safety requirements.

Other measures include a 20-person capacity in:

  • cafe bar and foyer area
  • Galleries 1, 3, 4 and 5
  • Rio Vista Historic House.

Visitors must also comply with physical distancing guidelines, including maintaining a distance of at least 1.5 metres from each other. Contactless payment methods are preferred.
