Mayor's statement in response to Cr Power resignation

Published on 22 March 2022

I would like to thank Cyndi Power for her tireless efforts over the past 17 months as an elected representative of our community, more recently as Deputy Mayor, and as a valuable colleague in the Council chamber.

It is with regret that I confirm that Cyndi has tendered her resignation.

This is a difficult time for all Councillors, and Council as an organisation will continue to provide support when and as needed.

I would again like to thank Cyndi for her dedication to our community during her time as a Councillor, and the many positive impacts and connections she has made.

Her well-being is our paramount concern during this time, and we ask the community to respect Cyndi’s privacy.

Council will now work with the Victorian Electoral Commission to determine the next steps.

In relation to the Deputy Mayor’s position, Councillors will elect a Deputy Mayor in the near future.
