Major swimming pool upgrades on track ahead of COVID-Safe summer

Published on 28 October 2021

Major renovations to both the Red Cliffs and Irymple Swimming Pools will be completed by mid-November, allowing for a COVID-safe summer of fun.

Marking the largest upgrades ever delivered to either site, and coupled with the recent installation of solar, works will deliver more energy-efficient facilities, while reducing operational costs.

Works completed include:

  • Reinstatement of both pool shells
  • Renewing all pool decks
  • Renewing and upgrading the hydraulic system for the main pool and toddlers pool
  • Structural and access upgrades to the main pool and toddlers pool

The result is an enhanced and improved experience for swimming clubs, schools and visitors alike.

“COVID-19 restrictions across our region and State are easing, and our community is ready to embrace a COVID-safe summer and get back to doing all the things they love,” Councillor for Infrastructure and Assets Glenn Milne said.

“This includes heading to the pool on those hot summer days.

“The works undertaken at the Red Cliffs and Irymple Swimming Pools have delivered improved facilities for the community to enjoy.”

Cr Milne said it was heartening to see our region embrace a new COVID-normal ahead of what is an extremely busy time of year.

“We all have a part to play to manage the spread of COVID-19, while enjoying our favourite activities in a COVID-safe way,” he said.

“This includes following the directions of staff at Council facilities to ensure everyone is abiding by the health directions in place.”

The Red Cliffs Swimming Pool is expected to reopen to the public from 1 November.

The Irymple Swimming Pool is expected to reopen to the public from 13 November.
