Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey results

The latest Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey results have been released, revealing where Council has improved its performance over the past 12 months, and where it can do better.
The results are based on a telephone survey of 400 residents and ratepayers in February and March this year by an independent market research firm.
Results have been produced in the following categories:
- Overall Performance
- Community Consultation
- Making Community Decisions
- Sealed Local Roads
- Customer Service
- Council Direction.
Council’s results are compared against other participating municipalities, broken into two groups - Regional Centres (eight Councils) and a state-wide group (62 Councils).
The results show Council’s Overall Performance rating (55 points) is marginally below the Regional Centres rating of 56. The state-wide score is 58.
Survey respondents scored Council higher or on par with both our Regional Centres and state-wide counterparts in the Council Direction, Advocacy and Sealed Local Roads categories. Council’s score was lower than the Regional Centres and state-wide scores for Customer Service.
In the Community Consultation category, Council scored three points higher than the Regional Centres score, but was slighter lower than the state-wide rating.
Council’s score for Making Community Decisions was on par with Regional Centres, and below the state-wide score.
Mildura Mayor Simon Clemence said the survey results were a useful tool to help guide Council’s continuous improvement efforts and provide better services for the community.
“This year’s Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey is timely as the results will be a key input in the development of our organisation’s guiding document – our next four-year Community and Council Plan,” Cr Clemence said.
A report detailing the results of the Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey will be presented at the July Ordinary Council Meeting.
Residents are reminded that a separate, locally-based Community Satisfaction Survey is currently open, providing a chance for local residents to provide us with feedback on our services, programs and facilities.
