From live music acts and performances for children through to two spectacular fireworks displays, Council’s official New Year’s Eve celebrations offer something for all ages to help bring in the New Year.

Based at Nowingi Place, Council’s free community event kicks off at 7pm on Monday 31 December with a packed program of entertainment.

For children there will be two live shows featuring SpongeBob SquarePants, accompanied by Patrick Star and Squidward.

There will also be jumping castles, face-painting, and for the first time this year, our Water Play Park will be operating until midnight, providing a chance for everyone to cool off between performances.

Live music fans will have plenty to keep them entertained throughout the night with no less than four live acts.

They include local solo artist Tyler Ball, classic rock and pop duo Iwan and Andrea and acoustic/electric duo Easy Street.

Ratbagz will then take to the stage as the final act of the night, taking Sunraysia back to the 1980s with ‘That 80s Show’, performing a host of popular ‘80s hits ahead of the countdown to midnight.

The first of two fireworks displays will take place at 9.25pm followed by the finale as the clock strikes midnight, welcoming in 2019.

Mildura’s Deputy Mayor Jason Modica, who will count the clock down to midnight on New Year’s Eve, encouraged the community to join in the celebrations.

“Our New Year’s Eve celebration is one of Council’s biggest and most popular community events, attracting thousands of residents each year,” Cr Modica said.

“It always provides a great, festive, safe atmosphere for people of all ages, particularly families, and is the perfect way to bring in the New Year.

“It also allows the community to enjoy the night any way they wish. You can bring a chair or a picnic rug, have a bite to eat and something to drink at one of the food and drink stalls and just take in the atmosphere.”

Council’s New Year’s Eve event is also smoke, alcohol and glass-free.
