Does a career that allows you to work from home, guide children through some of their most important developmental years, all the while developing lasting bonds with local families interest you?

If so, becoming a Family Day Care Educator could be just the role for you.

Family Day Care Educators allow children to be cared for in small groups in a home environment across our municipality, including Mildura as well as outlying areas such as Gol Gol, Irymple, Merbein and Red Cliffs where there are limited child care options.

Council currently has several Family Day Care Educator positions available and will hold two information sessions this Monday 15 April to provide more information about these roles as well as answer any questions prospective educators may have.

Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Min Poole said becoming a Family Day Care Educator offered a raft of opportunities and benefits for educators.

“Our Family Day Care Educators work from their own homes and provide care and education to children from six weeks old through to their pre-teens,” Cr Poole said.

“All you need is a warm and secure family-focused environment and an Education and Care qualification, or a willingness to study. There’s even a chance to apply for up to $2000 in start-up assistance to set up your Family Day Care business.”

Cr Poole said becoming a Family Day Care Educator could also offer an attractive career path for educators who already work in a centre-based environment.

“This is a unique opportunity to develop your own education programs based on the needs and interests of individual children, developing long-lasting bonds along the way, which can be incredibly rewarding,” she said.

Monday’s two free information sessions will be a valuable opportunity to learn more about becoming a Family Day Care Educator and will be held at the following times and location.
