The community is invited to provide feedback on exciting upgrades to Mildura’s iconic Feast Street designed to create a safer, greener and more vibrant place to dine, walk and spend time.

The upgrades are based on more than 150 submissions from the community where several key themes emerged, including parking availability, support for more outdoor dining, accessibility for the elderly and disabled, and ensuring the CBD is a greener space.

Designs based on this feedback include the following features.

  • A shared-street layout with flush kerbs and traffic calming
  • Arbours to support outdoor dining
  • Wider, more accessible footpaths
  • Raised pedestrian crossings and intersections
  • New street trees, landscaping and feature planters
  • Improved lighting and opportunities for public art and storytelling
  • Flexible spaces to support events and street activation.

The community is invited to view the designs and complete a quick survey to help further refine the plans to ensure they reflect what residents and businesses would like to see in Feast Street.

To view the designs, visit yoursay.mildura.vic.gov.au. Feedback can be provided until Tuesday, 30 June.

Mildura Rural City Councillor for Economic Development Rebecca Crossling highlighted how valuable the community feedback had been so far.

“I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to these designs as ultimately this is our community’s precinct to enjoy and spend time in,” Cr Crossling said.

“More than that though, it’s an incredibly important precinct within our CBD as a major drawcard for both locals and visitors, and all the economic benefits that flow from that for our local business owners within the CBD.

“Right from the outset when we started the design process, residents and businesses told us they wanted a street that is easy to get around, more comfortable in the heat and provides more spaces to enjoy, and for me, these designs reflect those features.”

Once the designs are finalised they will be presented to Council for endorsement later this year. Once the designs are endorsed, Council will seek State and/or Federal Government grant funding to complete the works.
