1846 Grants Applications Now Open FB012.jpg

Applications for Mildura Rural City Council’s latest round of funding grants are open until the middle of August, providing opportunities for community groups to apply for thousands of dollars for their projects or initiatives.

The latest round includes the new-look Community Grant program which combines what were previously known as the Community Project, Environmental Project and Arts Development grants into the one program.

Up to $10,000 is available through this program, which is open to not-for-profit community groups, taking in a very broad range of potential initiatives. Examples include:

  • Establishment of arts groups and/or support for existing groups
  • A heritage or environmental trail
  • Online educational resources and training
  • Re-vegetation activities
  • Creative Arts Industries and design projects
  • Energy audits or works to improve energy efficiency
  • Solar installation on community buildings
  • Projects that build social and cultural connections, or enhance health and well-being
  • Projects that support inclusion of vulnerable people through volunteering.

Applications are open until Monday 16 August. For more information visit www.mildura.vic.gov.au/grants

Previously, up to $2,000, $4,000 and $6,000 was available respectively for the Arts Development, Environmental Project and Community Project grants.

Under the new program community groups can apply for up to $10,000 per grant.

“We have so many hard-working community groups in our region creating some really innovative projects, which we’re keen to support through our Community Grants program,” Mildura Mayor Jason Modica said.

Cr Modica said combining the Community Project, Environmental Project and Arts Development Grant into the one program would make Council’s grants program simpler and easier to navigate, which would hopefully encourage more groups to apply for funding.

“Instead of researching which of the three previous grants programs would apply to a particular group’s project or initiative, there’s now a single grant program for community, environmental or arts projects,” he said.
