Award-winning Australian children’s group The Beanies will perform live on Mildura Rural City Council’s Facebook page later this month.

The free live-stream concert will start at 10am on Friday 10 July.

It will provide a unique opportunity for Sunraysia’s youngest residents to take in a live show by a nationally-recognised performing arts group from the comfort of their own homes.

Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Gavin Sedgmen said the 40-minute concert would be fully interactive, allowing viewers to post comments and take part in live challenges.

“This is a great initiative, allowing children anywhere in our municipality to enjoy and interact with this hugely popular Australian children’s group,” Cr Sedgmen said.

The Beanies were originally scheduled to perform in Mildura and Red Cliffs in March this year, however these performances were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Next week’s live stream replaces those performances.

“While it was obviously disappointing to see those live shows earlier this year postponed, next week’s live stream not only ensures our youngest residents don’t miss out on seeing this amazing group perform, but it will complement our other Term 2 school holiday activities,” Cr Sedgmen said.

The Beanies, featuring performers Laura, Michael and Mim, were recently nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Children’s Album and signed to ABC Kids.

The Sydney-based group boasts more than 50 original songs and is best known for its award-winning podcast series on PodcastOne, which saw them crowned Australian Podcast of the Year – Kids and Family in 2018, with more than half a million listeners.
