Mildura Rural City Council is developing a five-year Economic Development Strategy 2026-2031, with the aim to provide a clear direction to achieve economic growth outcomes that supports our region’s vision to be a liveable, people-friendly community.

Local businesses and community members are being encouraged to help inform the strategy through an online survey, with the aim to understand specific issues and opportunities for the local economy, as well as identify the economic priorities and needs of business owners and residents.

Those interested can visit yoursay.mildura.vic.gov.au/ecodev to complete an online survey before 12 December 2025, with in-person workshops planned for Mildura and Ouyen later this month:

  • Monday 24 November 2025 - 11:30am to 1:30pm Mildura Rural City Council - 76 Deakin Avenue, Mildura
  • Monday 24 November 2025 - 5:30pm to 7:30pm Benetook Room, Alfred Deakin Centre - 190 Deakin Avenue, Mildura
  • Tuesday 25 November 2025 - 3pm to 5pm Ouyen Service Centre - 79 Oke Street, Ouyen

“This strategy is going to be a vitally important document for Council moving forward,” Councillor for Economic Development Rebecca Crossling said.

Cr Crossling said the Strategy will:

• Consolidate and align Council’s economic development efforts across departments
• Guide advocacy and investment attraction activities
• Establish clear, measurable goals and priorities to enhance economic outcomes across the region

“It’s critical that we hear from our local businesses, industry representatives and local residents through this consultation process,” Cr Crossling said.

“This will ensure the Strategy aligns with the needs and aspirations of industry and our entire community across the entire Local Government Area and sets a clear direction for the future.”

Cr Crossling said feedback would also help Council determine what economic development means to industry and locals, what role Council should play and how it can best support growth, innovation and resilience in our region.
