Mildura Rural City Council is working with the Merbein Development Group on concept plans to extend the Merbein Skate Park, including adding to the existing skate bowl and introducing beginner and intermediate skate elements.

Other features include berm pockets and pump bumps for bikes and scooters.

Councillor for Recreation and Events Mark Eckel encouraged the community to provide their input and feedback.

“Some of the most valuable feedback we could hope for is from those who actually use skate parks in our region,” Cr Eckel said.

“They are the experts in terms of the end-user experience, ensuring elements within the park provide enough challenges or scope to enjoy their sport.

“We also need to ensure the park meets the needs of those enjoying the broader skate park area, making their feedback in relation to shade, seating, access and other features equally valuable.”

Key features of the concept plan include:

  • Existing half-pipe
  • Mini-ramp
  • Quarter pipe hip
  • A-frame block/ledge
  • Kicker to kicker gap
  • Grind block/ledge
  • Flat rail
  • Sheltered seating/access area
  • Pedestrian path
  • Access steps
  • Open lawn/seating area
  • Garden bed and plantings.
