Entries are now open for the 2016 FReeZA Youth Arts Prize.  Now in its third year, the exciting prize looks to uncover and recognize talented young artists in our region.

Sponsored by the Mildura Rural City Council’s FReeZA Committee, the FReeZA Arts Prize is open to anyone aged between 12 and 25 years of age who live, work or study within the Mildura Rural City Council area.

Community Wellbeing and Services portfolio Councillor Sharyon Peart said previous exhibitors have shown how much raw talent is hidden away in our community.

“Entries in the competition will be shown at an exclusive exhibition opening at the Mildura Visitor and Information Centre on Tuesday 16 August,” Cr Peart said.  “It’s a wonderful opportunity for artists to share their work with our wider community.”

There are a number of categories for the prize, Painting and Drawing, Photography and Graphic Design with separate age groups for each category.

“The prize is designed to give artists lots of flexibility when it comes to the materials and mediums they use.  From drawing and painting to print and even photography, we’re really giving people the opportunity to be as creative as they like.”

Entries are open now and close at 5pm on Friday 5 August 2016 with entry forms available from Council’s Youth Services team at youthservices@mildura.vic.gov.au, from Council Service Centres and online at www.mildura.vic.gov.au/youth

Winners will be announced on Thursday 18 August 2016.
