Enrolments are now open for three and four year old places at eight local kindergartens.

Parents or guardians looking to enrol their children in kindergarten or pre-kindergarten next year can do so now through one simple, central enrolment process.

Enrolments at the following kindergartens opened on May 1 and are coordinated by Mildura Rural City Council:

  •  Irymple Kindergarten
    • Kathleen Kelly Kindergarten
    • Mildura South Kindergarten
    • Mildura West Kindergarten
    • Nangiloc and District Kindergarten
    • Red Cliffs Kindergarten
    • De Garis Kindergarten
    • St Margaret’s Pre School

To enrol in any of these kindergartens, parents and guardians should lodge an enrolment form, along with required supporting documentation, to Council via email, post or in person.

Enrolment forms and all the information needed is available at www.mildura.vic.gov.au/kindergarten or by calling Council on (03) 5018 8100.

Enrolment at other local kindergartens is coordinated directly through those facilities and they can be contacted for further information.

Portfolio Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Min Poole said going to kindergarten was an important step in every child’s development.

“Kindergartens or Pre-Schools, provide a range of experiences to help 3 and 4-year-old children develop and learn before starting school. These are skills they will continue to build on across their lives,” she said.

Cr Poole also said the centralised enrolment system provided an equitable enrolment process for the eight kindergartens using it but urged parents to do their own research.

“Parents can visit kindergartens and attend open days, then when they’re ready to enrol their child, they can do this at any of Council Service Centres, regardless of where the kindergarten is located,” she said.

Enrolments under the centralised system opened on 1 May, with first-round places closing on 30 June. Enrolments will be accepted after this date. Enrolments for second-round places close on 31 July, while third-round places will continue until children have been allocated places.

Enrolment forms are available from Council Service Centres, Council’s website, participating kindergartens, Maternal and Child Health Centres and Mallee District Aboriginal Services’ Early Years Hub.
