If you have a community event or activity you want the region to know about, our Community Banner Program offers a powerful way to do this down Mildura’s main thoroughfare, Deakin Avenue.

Residents, groups and organisations can now display up to 25 banners along Deakin Avenue between Seventh and Tenth Streets following the installation of the new Flag Trax system.

The new banner system makes it easier and quicker to install banners, which can be up to three metres tall and almost one metre wide.

Councillor for Recreation and Events Mark Eckel said the new program was a great way for community groups to advertise their next major event or activity.

“I can’t think of a more prominent location to erect banners letting the community know about your next initiative than by hanging them along our city’s famous main thoroughfare,” Cr Eckel said.

“Hundreds, if not thousands of vehicles travel up and down Deakin Avenue on a daily basis, including visitors passing through our region, making it a powerful way to get your message out there, with a vibrant and strong presence.

“And from a community perspective, regularly having colourful banners displayed along Deakin Avenue visually enhances Mildura’s streetscape and creates a real sense of community.

“I’d also like to thank the community for their feedback before and during development of this policy, as it was clear this is something residents have wanted, particularly in terms of supporting Christmas decorations, and I’m pleased this is the outcome.”

Groups or community organisations keen to use the new system can do so by visiting www.mildura.vic.gov.au/bannerprogram

Places for up to 25 banners can be hired for four-week periods. There are also an additional 20 banner poles in the Langtree Mall which are also available for hire from Mildura City Heart, in line with Council’s Community Banner Program guidelines.
