Modifications to the existing Chaffey Park clubrooms, upgrades to the Merbein Fire Brigade running track and a linear skate track are among eight key action priorities identified as part of the 2022 Chaffey Park Masterplan Review.

Adopted by Councillors at the September Ordinary Meeting, the five-year plan aims to guide planning and development at the reserve. Development of the masterplan has been largely driven by the reserve’s regular user groups.

Councillor for Recreation and Events Mark Eckel said the aim of the review was to ensure the venue met the needs of existing user groups and internal stakeholders for the next five years.

“Our recreation reserves are among our best community assets,” he said. “Thanks to the input from users and the wider community, our revised Chaffey Park Masterplan will identify current and future facility needs and provide a clear direction for the next five years and beyond.”

The review also identified projects completed as part of the 2009-2019 masterplan. They include:

  • Management/restriction of traffic through the park through the installation of bollards and seating around the oval
  • Additional tree and vegetation plantings through the park and along adjoining roadsides
  • Installation of play areas, picnic and BBQ areas
