If there's a person or event you're aware of that has achieved or contributed to our region over the past 12 months, consider nominating them for a 2022 Australia Day Award.

Nominations open this Friday 27 August in the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Event or Project of the Year

Mildura Mayor Jason Modica said the high-profile awards were an opportunity for the community to ensure local people and groups received the recognition they deserved.

"Every year there are countless people and groups doing amazing things in our region, and yet I suspect only a fraction of them receive the broader acknowledgment they rightly deserve," Cr Modica said.

"Our Australia Day Awards are a chance to put forward these people and projects so they can be recognised for their efforts, which can be celebrated by the broader community at our annual Australia Day event in January."

Nominations can be made by visiting www.mildura.vic.gov.au/Ausday and can be submitted until 5pm on Friday 5 November this year.

Full details on eligibility and selection criteria are also available on the awards nomination page.

People making nominations are encouraged to provide as much information as possible as it is this information that forms the majority of the assessment process.
