Do you know an individual or a group who has made an outstanding contribution to our community?  Then why not nominate them for Mildura Rural City Council’s 2017 Australia Day Awards.

The awards, which are announced at Council’s official Australia Day celebrations every year, are an opportunity to recognise and pay tribute to the people and groups that help make our community great.

“There are three different categories that that we’re taking nominations for - Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event or Project of the Year,” Chief Executive Officer, Gerard José said.

“These awards are a great opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to the people in our community who make a difference to our everyday lives,” Mr José said.

“The nomination process is relatively simple. You just need to complete the questions by telling us why you are nominating this person or group and return the form to Council by Friday 4 November,” Mr José said.

“Once nominations have closed, our incoming Councillor’s will read through the applications and select the award winners based on their contributions to our community,” Mr José said.

“The Australia Day Awards are for anyone who is a local hero, anyone who is truly unselfish, community minded and inspirational in their actions.” Mr José said.

This year Council awarded three Australia Day Awards to people and groups who made an outstanding contribution to our community.  The winners were:
