Library requests
Renewals will occur automatically once, unless the item is on hold. If the item is required for a longer loan period please ask library staff for assistance.
Holds
With a Library card, you can place a hold on any item that is:
- Available at any branch
- Available at another library service. An available copy will be sent to your branch
- On loan to someone else
Once notified, all items will be held for nine days for pick-up.
To place a hold, log in to the catalogue, and then search to find the title you wish to reserve. You can then place a hold one of two ways:
From the Search Page:
- Click the check box next to the item(s) you want to place a hold on.
- Click on the Select an Action drop-down menu at the top of your search results.
- Select Place a Hold.
- Select your desired Pick-up Library and click on Place Hold. Click OK.
From the Item Page:
- Click on the Place Hold button.
- Select your desired Pick-up Library and click on Place Hold. Click OK.
Recommend items
If an item is available for purchase and falls within the Collection Development guidelines, it may be considered for purchase.
You can:
Use our new service, The Book Place, to suggest new titles for your library.
- Ask a staff member
- Use the Send a Request form, log in, and choose Recommend an Item from the dropdown menu. Fill in as much information as you can on the form and click the submit button.
We’ll notify you when the item becomes available.
Inter-library loan
We may be able to obtain an item from another public library in Victoria. A charge may apply if an item has to be obtained from a university library or from another state. We will advise you if further charges apply.
