Statement from Gerard Jose regarding the sad loss of our colleague
Published on 04 May 2016
There are no words that can adequately describe what we as an organisation and as individuals, feel about the tragic loss of our dear colleague and friend, Karen Belej.
Karen was a long serving, dedicated staff member. As a member of our Human Resources team, there would be very few staff who were not warmly welcomed into our organisation by Karen over the years.
Her beautiful, bubbly personality and room-warming smile will always be remembered.
On behalf of all staff and Councillors, we offer our heartfelt condolences to Karen’s family and friends at this very sad time.
We thank everyone for the support and concern offered to Karen’s colleagues here at Council. Staff have been offered counselling and in due course, we will find an appropriate way to honour her memory and pay tribute to her contribution to our Council and the wider community.
In respect to Karen’s family and friends, I will not be making any further public comments.
