South Mildura Sporting Club has reiterated its support for the planned direction for the Mildura South Regional Sporting Precinct (MSRSP) as the club continues preparing for the move to its new home.

Club President Kevin Burke said there were some key issues that needed to be addressed, but after recently meeting with Mildura Mayor Jason Modica he is confident they will be resolved with what is planned for Stage 2.

These issues include the provision for parking and spectators in Stage 2 of the precinct, and also what is planned for spectator seating together with covered-in areas.

“We’re excited about the move to the new precinct, and happy with the direction the facility is heading in terms of how the venue will look and the features it will include,” Mr Burke said.

“We’re looking forward to getting down into the finer detail around car parking, spectator seating and other features of the precinct as part of the planning for Stage 2 of the facility’s development.”

Cr Modica said Council’s MSRSP project team has been working behind the scenes on every issue raised by sporting groups during development of the facility.

“We are now shaping the final details of what is possible with Stage 2 and how this will address those key concerns,” he said.

“It was clear very early on, given the funding available, that Stage 1 would focus on ensuring the core elements of the precinct were completed – the indoor stadium the numerous user groups will call home, and the premier oval.

“With planning for Stage 2 well under way we are now looking at the other components of the precinct.

“This is something we’ll continue doing with all user groups as we embark on the next stage of this exciting venue.”
