As Mildura Arts Centre prepares to celebrate its Diamond Jubilee later this month, organisers are calling on local artists, craft makers, boutique market stalls holders and organisations to join in the fun.

Mildura Arts Centre is seeking expressions of interest from individuals, boutique market stall holders or organisations wishing to participate in the Community Open Day on Saturday 28 May 2016 from 11am to 4pm.

Arts and Culture Portfolio Councillor Jill Joslyn said the Open Day is a community event for everyone.

“It’s a chance to explore the galleries and experience some of the great artworks in our collection. We’ve already locked away a number of great performers, with live music from TONIC and Stephanie Rogers,” said Cr Joslyn.  “We also want to encourage anyone with craft market stalls and other artists to get involved to help make this celebration great.”

The Open Day is a part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations to recognise Mildura Arts Centre’s 60th Anniversary. The day will include guided tours of the exhibition which celebrates the founding bequest to Mildura Arts Centre by RD Elliott and tours of Rio Vista Historic House.  Children can participate in the Future Postal Service activities on the lawns and Friends of MAC will be on deck with delicious pancakes, while Lions Club will have the BBQ.

Community organisations are also invited to showcase arts and crafts from the region and to promote and build awareness of the various arts and culture organisations within the community.

Interested artists, craft makers, boutique market stallholders, organisations should get online and apply through Councils tender website at https://www.tenderlink.com/mildura/ and click 'Current Tenders' to complete their Expression of Interest (EOI) in being involved.

The EOI process closes on Tuesday 17 May 2016 so people are encouraged to get in quick.
