Mildura Arts Centre is about to become even more accessible to more people with work underway on a new passenger lift.

Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said the lift would improve access for those with limited mobility.

“It’s important that all residents in our region, as well as visitors, can experience what our magnificent Mildura Arts Centre has to offer, including those who may have difficulty getting around,” Cr Modica said.

“By installing this passenger lift, it will increase accessibility to galleries 3 and 4, ensuring people who may have limited mobility don’t miss out on exhibitions in the upper galleries.”

Work to install the passenger lift is expected to continue until early April and will at times impact on opening hours at the Mildura Arts Centre Café and Rio Vista Historic House on weekends.

During this period the Mildura Arts Centre Café will be open from 10am to 2pm on weekends. Rio Vista Historic House will be open from 10am to 2pm on weekends, and on request at other times.

“There will be minor disruptions at certain points in the project over the next few months, but the end result will certainly be worth it if it means more people can enjoy the Mildura Arts Centre,” Cr Modica said.
