Mildura Arts Centre is about to launch a new exhibition showcasing the creative talents of two Sunraysia artists who have a passion for working with clay.

Nourish features contemporary ceramics by Renae Pennicuik and Jennifer Gadsden and will open at 6pm this Thursday 4 April.

Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said it was exciting to see locally-created and inspired ceramic artwork at MAC.

“Both Renae and Jennifer love creating artwork through clay and the talent and passion they have for their craft is clearly evident in the stunning pieces they’ve created,” Cr Modica said.

Described as “an exploration of our local food culture, our region and our environment”, Nourish uses ceramic art to reflect “the land that yields, the growers that produce, our human connections through rituals of food preparation and the opportunity to connect with others.”

Renae and Jennifer said the title of their exhibition – Nourish – has a variety of meanings.

“Nourishment is necessary for growth of mind, body and soul to maintain good health,” they said.

“However to be well nourished is more than just the food we eat. It is also the sustenance we receive through our connections to community, place and each other.”

Nourish will be on exhibition at MAC until Sunday 26 May.
