The Irymple Swimming Pool will reopen this Friday following the completion of a major program of repairs and maintenance.

As part of Council’s regular pre-season swimming pool maintenance works earlier this year,  several unexpected issues were detected in the 70-year-old Irymple facility’s concrete structure that need to be addressed before it could open.

Further assessments by experts in the aquatic field revealed the need for significant repairs and maintenance, which would take several weeks to complete.

These works included:

  • repairs to the pool shell
  • review and repair surface cracks
  • caulking of expansion joints
  • structural assessment
  • concrete assessment
  • core sampling and repair
  • repainting of pool surfaces.

This work has been finished and commissioning works over the past week completed, meaning it’s now ready to open this Friday.

Councillor for Recreation and Sport Glenn Milne thanked the community for its patience.

“Our network of swimming pools are valued by our community, particularly at this time of the year, so we certainly appreciate the impact these works have had on the Irymple community,” Cr Milne said.

“Unfortunately these works were unavoidable, but the result is a freshly painted and repaired pool for Irymple residents to enjoy during the summer months ahead.”

The Irymple Pool will be open from 1pm this Friday. School holiday hours will commence on Monday from 10am to 8.30pm.
