Sarah Philpott, a senior local government executive, has been appointed as the new Mildura Rural City Council CEO.

Sarah has executive experience in both metropolitan and regional councils in South Australia and Queensland, and has held roles in community and city development and corporate services.

Sarah combines this with experience in the justice sector, as a Board Director and with formal qualifications including a Masters, business administration and change management.

Sarah is currently the Director of Corporate Services at the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, the third largest metropolitan council in South Australia.  Sarah is responsible for financial performance, governance, technology and people and culture at PAE, and brings a comprehensive understanding of the challenges of managing large local government organisations.

In addition, she is responsible for development of city strategy, economic development, urban design, environmental strategy and major projects.

Sarah said that the location and lifestyle combined with an interesting and diverse role were all factors in her interest in the Mildura position.

"The opportunity to be part of building an even stronger Mildura region, which has at its heart a vision to be the most liveable and friendly community, is very exciting,” she said.

“I am particularly pleased to join the Council and community at a time where there are several significant projects to deliver in partnership, which aim to make a real difference to the economy and the wellbeing of the region.  I look forward to moving to the Mildura area shortly with my family."

Mildura Rural City Council Mayor Simon Clemence welcomed Sarah as Council’s new CEO.

“Sarah brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise to lead our organisation at what is both an exciting and challenging time for our region,” Cr Clemence said.

“Her broad experience in both the metropolitan and regional local government sectors will bring fresh ideas and direction and we look forward to working with her.”

The search and appointment of a new CEO follows the move of former CEO Gerard Jose to a new role in Bendigo.  Interim CEO Allan Bawden will continue in the interim role until Sarah commences on Monday 5 August, 2019.
