Our community is invited to attend this historic live-stream event, with Premier Jacinta Allan to make a formal apology to First Peoples in Victoria’s Parliament House on Tuesday 9 December 2025.

The apology is a key recommendation of Victoria’s Yoorrook Justice Commission, and was committed to in the first Treaty, following the Statewide Treaty Act 2025 becoming law.

The final report of the Yoorrook Justice Commission recommended an acknowledgement of the responsibility of predecessors for laws, policies and practices that contributed to injustices against First Peoples in Victoria.

The Victorian Government has worked with the First Peoples’ Assembly to deliver the apology through the Treaty process, with the broader community invited to view the event via a livestream at parliament.vic.gov.au, or attend our in-person event at Powerhouse Place.

Partnering with others to champion inclusivity, equity and accessibility, while supporting actions to ensure our community is healthy, safe and nurturing is among the key outcomes of our 2025-2029 Council Plan, while respecting Aboriginal culture, connection to country and Traditional Owners of the land was among the key values our community identified as part the 20-year Community Vision for our area.

Support is available through Lifeline (131 114), Yarning SafeNStrong (1800 959 563) or Beyond Blue (1300 22 46 36).
