Story Box Library - online stories

The Big Summer Read is an annual reading challenge for school aged children in Victoria and starts on 1 December with registrations now open! (You can also register through your local library).

Visiting Story Box Library to watch a story forms part of the challenge, and Story Box Library has provided access to you free of charge for the duration of the Big Summer Read from 1 December to 31 January.

Go to the Story Box login page.

  • If you have use Story Box before, login with your barcode and password you setup with the account.
  • If you haven't used Story Box before, go to the login page and type in your barcode and fill out the details in the form.

LOTE4Kids - online stories in English and other languages

LOTE4Kids is our new online database of over 3,000+ digital books in over 65+ World Languages, that allows kids to enjoy the magic of books in LOTE (Languages Other Than English). Most books also come with English translations to help kids learn languages. 

Using the App

  1. Download the LOTE4Kids app.
  2. Open the app and search for the library's name (Mildura and Swan Hill libraries).
  3. Type in your library card number to login to LOTE 4Kids.
  4. If you don’t have library membership, you can join online and use the number sent to you or visit a library.

Using the website

  1. Click here to access the webpage.
  2. Search by typing Mildura in the find your library to login field, select Mildura Rural City Council. 
  3. Then type in your library card number and click submit.
  4. Now select a flag for stories in that language.

Comics Plus Children's Library - digital comics, graphic novels and manga

Comics Plus, powered by LibraryPass, is a digital platform offering thousands of digital comics, graphic novels and manga titles.  You can access titles using a smartphone, tablet, or web browser, and can be downloaded to multiple devices. There is never a wait to read, all titles are unlimited access simultaneous use.

Using the App

  1. Download the LibraryPass app
  2. Open the app and search for the library's name (Mildura) and choose the Children's Library collection.
  3. Type in your library card number to login to Comics Plus.
  4. If you don’t have library membership, you can join online and use the number sent to you or visit a library.

Little J & Big Cuz - Adventures of a couple of Indigenous Australian kids

Watch or play games with Little J & Big Cuz.

They're a couple of Indigenous Australian kids living with their Nanna and Old Dog. Join them on their adventures at school, in the backyard and beyond. With the help of Nanna and their teacher, Little J and Big Cuz are finding out all about culture, community and country.

Our Yarning - Indigenous Australian children's stories

Library For All have published a unique Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander early education literacy collection, Our Yarning, as well as 14 additional culturally relevant collections in 11 languages for children around the world.

All books in the Our Yarning collection are written by First Nations people, with culturally relevant stories reflecting the many and varied identities and lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including people living in urban, rural and remote Australia. The books give Aboriginal children the opportunity to see their own experiences mirrored on the pages of the books, which are colourful, engaging learning resources. Just as importantly, the distinctive collection gives all Australian children the opportunity to engage in First Nations culture.
