Zoe Support

Zoe Support Australia is a not-for-profit community service organisation dedicated to supporting young mothers aged 13-25. Offering a culture of connecting, inspiring and learning, Zoe Support aims to re-engage mother in education, employment, and social programs. The family day care program provided engaging learning and play for Zoe Support children. The educators go above and beyond to meet the needs of the children in their care, many of whom are facing increased vulnerabilities.

Simone has been recognised for her dedication to young children and their families being Victorian regional winner in the Family Day Care Australia excellence awards in 2021.

About My Service

Hi, my name is Karen Mitchell.

I have worked as a Family Day Care Educator for Zoe Support for 7 ½ years.

I haven’t always worked as an educator, my husband and I moved to Mildura 28 years ago, to start our picture framing business. We are still going strong.

From there we had 5 wonderful children (all boys).

When my youngest child was in Kindergarten, I felt it was my chance to Educate myself and become a Childcare Educator.

I had an interview at Zoe Support and haven’t looked back since, the position was perfect for me.

I look forward to meeting you and your child/children.

I am passionate about providing a stimulating environment, where your child can enjoy learning through play, while they create, learn with educational activities & learning through books and lots of activities provided.

There is a lovely shady backyard, where we enjoy lots of activities in the garden and plenty of play equipment for children to happily explore.

I look forward to working together with parents and children to expand the children’s minds, ability while building friendships.

Hi, my name is Shakirah.

I am a Mildura local and have lived here my whole life, so being part of the community and supporting local families is very important to me.

I live with my partner of three years and our two dogs, who are very much part of our family. Creating a warm, welcoming home environment is something I value greatly and I aim to reflect that same sense of comfort and belonging within my Family Day Care.

I hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and have over five years of experience working with children. Through my experience I have developed a strong interest in behaviour support, helping children develop emotional regulation, confidence and positive relationships with others.

As a child I was quite shy and often felt anxious in new environments. This experience has helped shape my approach as an educator, as I understand how important it is for children to feel safe, supported and nurtured in their learning environment. I am passionate about creating a calm and supportive space where every child feels valued and encouraged to develop at their own pace.

I believe children learn best through play-based experiences that support curiosity, creativity and exploration. I provide a range of engaging activities that support children’s development, including outdoor play, creative experiences, books, sensory play and opportunities for children to explore their individual interests.

I look forward to building positive relationships with families and working together to support each child’s learning, wellbeing and confidence.

How much does Family Day Care cost?

Our educators work under a deregulated fee system where, as service operators, they set their own fees according to the service provided.

You may be able to claim Child Care Subsidy (CCS) to reduce your fees.
