If you want to improve the lives of people with disabilities in our municipality, why not consider joining Mildura Rural City Council’s Disability Access Advisory Committee (DAAC).

Our DAAC helps increase access for residents with disabilities through the establishment of a consultative community framework, which advises Council on the priority access needs of people with disabilities.

This includes working in partnership with Council to improve access to services, programs and infrastructure for people with disabilities within our municipality.

Council is seeking community-minded individuals and representatives from local organisations to fill two vacancies on the current committee – there are vacancies for:

  • one community member
  • one disability agency member

The committee meets monthly and membership is for a three-year term.

People with disabilities as well as family members and carers from a range of backgrounds and with varied experiences are encouraged to apply.

Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Min Poole encouraged residents to apply.

“It’s critical that we ensure people with disabilities have access to services and facilities in our region, and our Disability Access Advisory Committee is a great way residents can make a real difference in this area,” Cr Poole said.

The DAAC was established in 2001 and has evolved from an advisory committee to now being recognised as an expert resource for Council to address barriers to access and inclusion for people with disabilities.
