Expressions of interest now sought for riverfront hospitality vendors

Hospitality operators seeking to be part of Mildura’s vibrant new riverfront precinct can now submit an expression of interest (EOI) to operate in the area.
Mildura Rural City Council is seeking expressions of interest for one semi-permanent food and beverage trader and one temporary operator.
The semi-permanent trader will be issued with a licence of up to five years, while the temporary street trader will be offered a licence of up to 12 months.
Councillor for Economic Development and Tourism Mark Eckel said the EOI process followed a successful trial of temporary street traders around the Water Play Park area.
“Our trial program not only confirmed the community’s desire for a more vibrant and active riverfront, but illustrated the viability of the riverfront for both semi-permanent and temporary traders and represents a fantastic opportunity for local operators,” Cr Eckel said.
“It also demonstrated the popularity of our new-look riverfront among both local residents and visitors.”
Cr Eckel said the option of up to five years for semi-permanent operators provided more certainty from a business planning perspective for potential operators, while the temporary licence allowed for seasonal options.
“The temporary licence could see, for example, an ice-cream vendor open up during the summer months, while we might see a soup kitchen start up during the colder winter months, providing variety and options for vendors and customers,” he said.
“These options and the presence of multiple food and beverage operators will play a vital role in activating our riverfront precinct.”
Expressions of interest are open until Thursday, 20 April. Applicants can download EOI documents from www.tenderlink.com/mildura/
