Whether it’s taking in live music, a fitness class or even sampling a new language, Council’s massive program of 2017 Seniors Festival events is now less than a month away, promising something for everyone.

Our annual Seniors Festival is a week-long celebration of our over 55 community, which runs from Monday, 9 October, boasting a packed program of free and low-cost activities covering everything from a raft of come-and-try activities to luncheons, site tours and movie sessions.

There are also activities planned for our Mallee Track seniors with three events in Ouyen.

Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Ali Cupper encouraged Sunraysia residents 55 and over to take advantage of the festival and the diverse range of activities on offer.

“Our annual Seniors Festival is not only a great way for our over 55s to stay active, it’s an opportunity to try something new and meet new people,” Cr Cupper said.

“We certainly value our seniors, which is reflected in the effort that goes into the fantastic program of events on offer each year, and this year is no different.

“Produced by our dedicated Aged and Disability Services team and supported by the Victorian Government, this year’s program features a large range of events and experiences, all of which are either free, or low cost to ensure they’re accessible to as many residents as possible.”

The Seniors Festival is a state-wide celebration that acknowledges the contributions older people make to our community and gives them the chance to get out and try something new.

The program for this year’s event has just been released and is available online at www.mildura.vic.gov.au or from any of Council’s Service Centres and Senior Citizens Clubs.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from Council’s Deakin Avenue and Ouyen Service Centres until sold out.

Tickets will also be available at Council’s Merbein, Red Cliffs and Irymple libraries until Friday, 22 September. Residents are urged to purchase tickets early to avoid missing out, as numbers are limited.
