Mildura Rural City Council is asking residents and businesses to share how COVID-19 is impacting them to ensure the municipal-wide COVID-19 Community Relief and Recovery Plan continues to be responsive to our region’s longer term needs.

A COVID-19 Recovery Survey has been created, allowing the community to quickly and easily outline how they’re being impacted by the pandemic and actions they believe are needed at a local level.

Council’s General Manager Community Martin Hawson said while a significant amount of work has already been done, and numerous relief measures already in place, it was critical to ensure the community’s long-term needs were identified.

“We’re already implementing many elements of our relief and recovery plan, however this survey will help us keep abreast of the ongoing impacts on our community, as well as what the future implications could be,” Mr Hawson said.

“By gathering and understanding this valuable information we can better support our community as we come out of the pandemic.”

The survey is open from today 2 November until Sunday 22 November and can be taken in several different ways:

Hard copies of the survey can either be mailed out on request by calling (03) 5018 8254 or obtained from the Mildura Visitor Information and Booking Centre in Deakin Avenue.

Council respects that some details residents wish to share may be sensitive, which is why the survey is anonymous, including the online survey, which will not allow people to be identified within the data.

Council established a Community Relief Service very early in the pandemic, which continues to provide vital support to local residents, including connection to social and community support groups, access to food parcels and referral to key support agencies among numerous different measures.

Other relief measures include waiving rates for numerous community groups, clubs and organisations, waiving a broad range of fees and charges for businesses and deferring interest on overdue rates for eligible residential properties.
