Community Climate Emergency Plan – Community Consultation Workshops

Highway-069

Residents are invited to have their say on their key priorities in a climate emergency at community consultation workshops being held throughout October 2022.

In February 2020, Mildura Rural City Council became the 30th Local Government in Victoria, and the 94th in Australia, to declare a climate emergency. Since then, MRCC has developed and is implementing its Towards Zero Emissions Strategy 2021-2050.

MRCC has also been working with the Climate Emergency Community Advisory Group to develop and implement a Community Climate Emergency Plan with community owned and activated climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.

The workshops aim to capture the community’s ideas and priorities across a range of topics including the natural environment, built/urban environment, farming, business/industry, waste, education and health in a climate emergency.
