COVID-19 August 2020 Update
Effective Wednesday 6 August 2020, playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gym equipment will be closed to the public
With 20 recreation reserves and 75 parks throughout our region, there are plenty of great places to get active and enjoy the great outdoors. Park facilities and features vary however most feature BBQs, play equipment, rubbish bins, sports areas, drinking water, outdoor furniture and walking paths.
Using our parks
For the health and safety of everyone in our community there are certain requirements people must meet when using parks and reserves.
- It is an offence under Council's Local Laws to drive or park vehicles on recreation reserves or parklands.
- Council maintains recreation reserves and parks for use by members of the public.
- Businesses, sole operators or community groups which conduct organised activities at these facilities must have formal agreements in place with Council.
- People visiting our parks and reserves are expected to dispose of rubbish responsibly and not litter public spaces.
Walking your dog
Our parks and reserves are great places for exercising your pet. Dog owners are expected to meet the following requirements when exercising their pets in public places:
- Ensure their dog is under control at all times and leashed when in public areas.
- Ensure their dog does not harass people or other animals.
- Clean up after their dogs, as this is considered to be littering. Many parks and reserves in the municipality have 'poop scoop' bag dispensers, and bins for disposal of dog poo.
Park Maintenance
Council conducts regular gardening and maintenance works on all parks, gardens and sports fields throughout the municipality. To report maintenance or safety issues at a park or reserve contact Council.
