Recognising the achievements of our youth

Published on 17 January 2017

If you know of a young person in the municipality who has made a significant contribution to the community, why not nominate them for Mildura Rural City Council’s 2017 Youth Awards.

Nominations for the awards open on Monday 30 January and are designed to recognise the achievements and contributions of young people aged 12 to 25 in the community.

Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Ali Cupper said the awards not only recognised the achievements of young people, but were a reflection of the massive potential in the area.

“Our younger residents are our future and when we see the rich talent pool of young people in this district, it gets you excited about what the future holds,” Cr Cupper said.

“Council’s Youth Awards are a fantastic way to not only acknowledge the efforts of our youth in a variety of different areas, but hopefully inspire other young people in the district to strive even harder in their chosen field.”

The awards recognise both individuals and groups and fall into six categories:

This award recognises an individual who is a carer for a family member, relative or friend with a disability, mental illness or chronic condition.
