Whether it’s self defence classes, designing your own t-shirt or simply taking in a movie and enjoying a pizza, Council has plenty of activities planned for our younger residents during the upcoming school holidays.

Council’s annual January School Holiday program features a packed schedule of events and activities, which will run from Monday, 15 January through to Thursday 25 January.

Targeted at young people aged 12 to 16, this year’s program includes several new and exciting activities, including self defence classes by the accredited experts at Mildura-based Strike Force, a day at Ouyen’s popular Roxy Theatre and a t-shirt art design session.

All activities will be facilitated from the Mildura Scout Hall at 39 Twelfth Street and will be either free or low cost.

Mildura Rural City Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Min Poole encouraged young people or their parents to take a look at the activities on offer and register by the Friday, 5 January deadline.

“It’s great to be able to provide such a wide variety of activities to suit young people of all interests,” Cr Poole said.

“The aim of our program is not just about giving our younger residents something to do, it’s about providing activities that help build new skills, knowledge and social networks among our youth.”

Other regular activities planned for the school holidays include the popular Laserforce, movie and pizza days and a mega-splash pool party, with lunch and morning tea provided as part of most activities.

Council’s school holiday program is co-funded through the Victorian Government’s Engage Program.

Registrations are now open and close at 5pm on Friday, 5 January.
