How COVID-19 impacted our community

In November 2020 we invited community to tell us how the COVID-19 pandemic had impacted them. 857 people from across the Mildura Rural City Council area responded. Thank you to everyone who shared their story. Hearing your voices helps us understand the affects COVID-19 has had on our community and it will also help guide how we rebuild with relief and recovery.

Key findings from the survey revealed: 

  • 48% of respondents were less satisfied with their health
  • 42% said their mental health had been impacted - mainly due to isolation and anxiety
  • 39% reported impacts on child wellbeing
  • 44% were exercising less
  • 55% felt less satisfied with feeling part of the community
  • 12% were unable to pay their rent or mortgage
  • 50% of businesses reported a decrease in revenue
  • 34% of business owners changed their method of service delivery
  • 50% of people want to see more community events
  • 35% want more exercise opportunities
  • 25% want to see more support for businesses
  • 32% want more mental health support
  • 33% want more awareness of services that are available
