Public Toilet Strategy

Mildura Rural City Council currently manages and maintains 72 different public toilets from Murrayville to Merbein. We’re developing a Public Toilet Strategy to guide future investment in public toilet facilities.

The Strategy will set out a 10-year framework for Council to provide safe, clean, accessible and appropriate public toilet facilities for locals and visitors. It will take in to consideration location, security, design, usage levels and costs.


The project commenced in January 2018 and is expected to be completed by October 2019.

What we know already

As part of Stage 1 (Background Review), we have looked at customer feedback reports about public toilets, over the last two years. Some key themes from this review are outlined below:

Online Survey

Thank you to everyone who completed the online survey during February-March 2018. More than 600 people filled out a survey and many of you provided detailed feedback about our region's public toilets. Survey responses are currently being reviewed and a summary will be made available when it is complete. Feedback from the surveys will also form part of the information used to prepare the Public Toilet Strategy in Stage 3.

A series of workshops were held with the community in July 2018 to further discuss public toilets in our region. The information below outlines the feedback received.
