Be kind to others

Be Kind To Others

Now more than ever, it is important that we are kind to each other, especially our most vulnerable community members. As individuals, situations like coronavirus can affect us all in different ways.  Some may adapt easily while others will find things more difficult and challenging.

The power of kindness

Did you know that one act of kindness each day can reduce stress, anxiety and depression? Recent studies show that social isolation is having a negative impact on mental health with requests for mental health assistance in Australia increasing by as much as 40%.  Research also shows that acts of kindness can make us feel better and improve our health.

Ways to be kind to others

  • Leave a note at your neighbour’s door to check in on them.
  • Call a friend or loved one for a chat.
  • Make a homemade meal for someone doing it tough.
  • Do a grocery shop for someone who can’t.
  • Offer to help a local community group or charity.
  • Smile (even if your face is covered!) and say hello to others.
  • Be patient and remember everyone is dealing with big changes and challenges.
  • Reach out to someone you haven't spoken to for a while.
  • Brighten someone's day with a random act of kindness.
