Mildura Rural City Council is committed to supporting a professional film and television industry, which produces local content for domestic and overseas markets.

The region includes picturesque filming locations, historical sites, amazing landscapes and a wide variety of natural attractions.

The scenery includes the wonderful Murray River, famous Mallee national parks and horticultural blocks.

Mildura and the surrounding towns of Red Cliffs, Irymple, Merbein, and Ouyen have an unmistakable cosmopolitan flavour thanks to a multicultural society, delicious local foods and unique wines, vibrant arts culture and a busy calendar of events.

Wentworth, just across the border in New South Wales, boasts the junction of the Darling and Murray Rivers, Old Wentworth Gaol, the adventure land of 400 acres of rolling red sandhills, The Perry Sandhills and Australia’s first World Heritage area listed is the famous Mungo National Park.

The modern-day miracle of this oasis in the desert owes much to the Canadian Chaffey brothers who irrigated the region from the Murray in the 1880s. Many sites of historical interest when you follow the Chaffey Trail in Mildura or explore the historic port of Wentworth, the oldest town in the district. Other significant sties include, Rio Vista house, built by the Chaffeys, retains many of its original features, at Psyche Bend Pumping Station you’ll find George Chaffey’s still-operational steam engine and pump or climb aboard a paddle vessel on the river Murray – there’s no better way to experience what 19th century life was like. Of course the legacy of the area’s indigenous people makes the Chaffey era seem like it was only yesterday.

Often referred to as the Mediterranean in the outback, it’s the contrast between outback solitude and the celebrations of a vibrant culture. Productions that feature the region and its icons are of value many times beyond their immediate economic benefit, by promoting regional Victoria assets nationally and internationally.
